Weddings in Sri Lanka

Sweet Treats

I attended the RSVP Show yesterday at the Business Design Centre in Islington. The show is always full of new ideas and companies promoting new products and services.

One company that I came across was Ice Angels - they provide miniature ice cream cones and other sweets treats for events served by waitresses dressed in 1950 inspired dresses. Other sweets include miniature candy floss, miniature popcorn and ice cream sundaes. They would be ideal for summer weddings and drinks receptions.

Multicultural Weddings 2 - Wedding Ceremonies

We plan lots of weddings where the bride and groom are from different cultures/backgrounds. One of the main things to consider is which type of ceremony or ceremonies to have and to get the right balance of the two cultures. It is possible to combine a civil ceremony with a religious or cultural wedding ceremony by doing both events on one day or by splitting the events over two weekends. If you are trying to reduce costs, I would suggest having the civil ceremony in the morning with just close friends and family attending and then inviting all the other guests to the religious ceremony in the afternoon. The religious ceremony can also be shortened if you require and most priests are happy to accommodate such requests.

Raj Tent Company

If you are looking at having an outdoor wedding or want to create a separate space inside, one idea would be to use a beautiful tent from the Raj Tent Company. If you want to create a chillout area or space within another space or large venue, their tents and furniture would be ideal.

Sweet Buffets

One idea that we are using at weddings this summer is a Sweet Buffet. Make a statement with the dessert buffet and mix it up with sweets, candies, profiterole towers and foil wrapped chocolates all in keeping with the colour scheme. Have this available in the evening after the main meal so that guests can have something to nibble on during the evening.

Australian Inspiration

One company that always inspires me is Angels Dreaming in Australia. They do beautiful stationery and also theming via The Style Salon. I used them back in 2006 to create my own invitations and wedding stationery when I got married. They have a showroom in Sydney but also do wedding stationery for overseas weddings.

Fusion Wedding Outfits

We often work with brides that are looking for a designer to create an outfit that is a mix of two cultures. One specialist designer that can design and create an outfit that is a fusion of Asian and Western styles is Ami-London (http://www.ami-london.com/).
